At the Zoo
This poem can be read from the top line to the bottom line or, from the bottom line to the top line. Doesn't sound that difficult, I know, but it ended up taking me awhile to choose a suitable topic and style of words.
At the zoo, on a summer's day.
A boy was looking in a monkey cage
And on the other side, to his dismay
A monkey was looking at a boy, I'd wage.
I glanced over to see what he saw and
a funny expression lay on his face--
He was pondering and he was thinking
He was asking who was locked in this place.
A man looked over and saw the awkward two
Wondering how they could waste such time
Didn't they realize there were things to do?
They stayed as distant as boxed-in mimes
Letting their lives be slowly drained.
just staring at the people who went their own way--
A funny, but not distant pair remained
at the zoo on a summer's day
from the last line to the first
At the zoo on a summer's day
A funny, but not distant pair remained
just staring at the people who went their own way--
Letting their lives be slowly drained.
They stayed as distant as boxed-in mimes
Didn't they realize there were things to do?
Wondering how they could waste such time
A man looked over and saw the awkward two
He was asking who was locked in this place.
He was pondering and he was thinking
a funny expression lay on his face--
I glanced over to see what he saw and
A monkey was looking at a boy, I'd wage.
And on the other side, to his dismay
A boy was looking in a monkey cage.
At the zoo, on a summer's day.
